HARRISBURG – Rep. Andrew Kuzma (R-Allegheny/Washington) today announced he is partnering with South Park Township Police to host a free event to allow area residents to replace their license plates that are difficult to read.
The event will be held on Saturday, March 23, at the South Park Township Municipal Building, 2675 Brownsville Road, South Park, from 1-3 p.m.
“I hosted a similar event last year that was wildly popular and hope people take advantage of this opportunity,” Kuzma said. “Weather and age can damage license plates and result in the letters and numbers becoming difficult to read. Many people do not realize they can receive a replacement from PennDOT free of charge. This event will help simplify the process.”
If the license plate is determined to be illegible, paperwork will be completed for no fee. Each participant needs to bring their driver’s license and vehicle registration. The new plate should arrive in a few weeks to the vehicle owner’s home address.
According to PennDOT, a registration plate is deemed illegible when one or more numbers or letters cannot be recognized from 50 feet or if the registration plate shows any blistering, peeling, discoloration or loss of reflectivity.
Anyone with further questions can contact Kuzma’s district office at 412-382-2009.
The 39th Legislative District includes Elizabeth, Forward and South Park townships and Elizabeth, Jefferson Hills, Pleasant Hills and West Elizabeth boroughs in Allegheny County; and Union and part of Carroll townships, Finleyville and New Eagle boroughs, and the city of Monongahela in Washington County.
