HARRISBURG – Rep. Andrew Kuzma (R-Allegheny/Washington) today announced he is partnering with Jefferson Hills Borough Police Department to host a free event to allow area residents to replace their license plates that are difficult to read.
The event will be held on Saturday, Sept. 28, at the Jefferson Hills Borough Complex, 925 Old Clairton Road, Jefferson Hills, from 9 a.m. to noon.
“Weather or age can cause the numbers and letters on a license plate to become difficult to read,” Kuzma said. “PennDOT offers replacement plates free of charge once they are certified as needing replaced. These events help facilitate the process and have proven to be well received when I have held them in the past.”
If the license plate is determined to be illegible, paperwork will be completed for no fee. Each participant needs to bring their driver’s license and vehicle registration. The new plate should arrive in a few weeks to the vehicle owner’s home address. RSVP is required at www.RepKuzma.com/events. Anyone with further questions can contact Kuzma’s district office at 412-382-2009.
According to PennDOT, a registration plate is deemed illegible when one or more numbers or letters cannot be recognized from 50 feet or if the registration plate shows any blistering, peeling, discoloration or loss of reflectivity.
The 39th Legislative District includes Elizabeth, Forward and South Park townships and Elizabeth, Jefferson Hills, Pleasant Hills and West Elizabeth boroughs in Allegheny County; and Union and part of Carroll townships, Finleyville and New Eagle boroughs, and the city of Monongahela in Washington County.
