HARRISBURG – Rep. Andrew Kuzma (R-Allegheny/Washington) today announced the release of $1.88 million in state funds to help rebuild and renovate Elizabeth Forward High School after a devasting 2023 fire.
Kuzma advocated for the funding through the state’s Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program (RACP).
“I have worked tirelessly in Harrisburg since the flames were extinguished to help the school district with the cost of rebuilding and renovating the high school,” Kuzma said. “I’m pleased to be able to deliver this much-needed funding. As an alumnus of the school district, I know what a critical part the school plays in the community. I’m eager to see the project once it is completed.”
The money will be used to help with the cost to replace the auditorium that was lost to fire and construct a new gymnasium. Both will have new mechanical systems and be ADA compliant. This is on top of the $1.6 million Public School Facility Improvement Grant Kuzma helped secure for the district to replace the HVAC system and boilers that were damaged in the fire. This brings the total $3.48 million that Kuzma secured.
The 39th Legislative District includes Elizabeth, Forward and South Park townships and Elizabeth, Jefferson Hills, Pleasant Hills and West Elizabeth boroughs in Allegheny County; and Union and part of Carroll townships, Finleyville and New Eagle boroughs, and the city of Monongahela in Washington County.
