Kuzma Announces Funding for Projects in 39th District

HARRISBURG – Rep. Andrew Kuzma (R-Allegheny/Washington) today announced he helped secure more than $1.36 million in Local Share Account grants from the Commonwealth Financing Authority (CFA) for 11 projects in the 39th Legislative District.
Act 71 of 2004 provides for the distribution of gaming revenues through the CFA to support projects of public interest within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
“I’m happy to support these worthwhile and important projects,” Kuzma said. “Each addresses a critical need in our community. The impact of each will extend for many years, strengthening our communities, improving our quality of life and enhancing the area’s future.”
Municipalities receiving funds are:
• Union Township – $77,450 to demolish buildings at a decommissioned Cold War-era military site in the township.
• Union Township – $192,888 to restore the streambank at Pleasant Stream Park.
• West Elizabeth Borough – $24,750 to renovate the borough building to include new doors, windows and flooring.
• Jefferson Hills Borough – $145,000 for building renovations and parking lot expansion at the Southeast Regional EMS building.
• City of Monongahela – $100,000 to replace catch basins and stormwater pipes near Mounds Park.
• New Eagle Borough – $200,000 to replace the roof and mechanical systems at the New Eagle Volunteer Fire Department social hall.
• Forward Township – $198,100 to repair Saddler’s Hollow Road.
• Buena Vista Volunteer Fire Department – $117,000 to replace the roof and improve the exterior façade on the Buena Vista Volunteer Fire Department building.
• Elizabeth Township – $100,000 to assist with construction of a multi-purpose athletic field to include four small soccer fields, one regulation-size soccer field, two regulation-size practice baseball fields, parking and a walking trail.
• Elizabeth Township – $60,800 to purchase a skid steer for use by the public works department.
• W.M.B.U. – $150,000 to renovate the Workingmens Mutual Beneficiary Union building in Blythedale to increase the longevity of the building and allow for it to serve as an ADA-compliant warming shelter in emergencies.
The 39th Legislative District includes Elizabeth, Forward and South Park townships and Elizabeth, Jefferson Hills, Pleasant Hills and West Elizabeth boroughs in Allegheny County; and Union and part of Carroll townships, Finleyville and New Eagle boroughs, and the city of Monongahela in Washington County.
